Wood is a noble material appreciated for centuries for making knife sleeves.
If it is wood which, by their exceptional density, like the ebony wood or iron wood, are naturally resistant to variations in the degree of humidity of the air or even to projections of liquids, most can undergo deformations and one degradation accelerated with similar exposures.

A relatively recent alternative is that stabilize wood pads before the sleeves are shaped using an acrylic impregnation resin. Once dried, the pads will be protected by hardened resin against any deformations related to ambient moisture while maintaining their aesthetic qualities and the incomparable touch of wood.
The stabilization of wood: a decisive process.
Wood stabilization is done with our acrylic resin Novacure and its activator, through a vacuum treatment process and oven drying at a minimum of 95°.
The process consists of impregnation of wood fibres with resin at the very heart of their pores.
After drying and curing in the oven (4 to 5 hours at a minimum of 95°), the wood parts become resistant to wear and exposure to moisture or excessive dryness and do not suffer any alteration or deformation.
For a perfect impregnation at heart of your wood parts (sleeve pads or any other wooden objects), it is essential to use a vacuum chamber to extract air from the pores of the wood and replace it with Novacure resin.
