Vanadis 8 has a very high alloy content with 8% vanadium and a hardness of 60-64hrc which makes it the metallurgy grade of the most resistant powders in the Uddeholm range.

Ideal resistance for solicitated blades.

The Vanadis 8 also has good tenacity, which makes it ideal for making bushcraft and outdoor knife blades in general. The combination of a very high carbon content and a large quantity of chromium and vanadium results in the formation of a very large volume of chromium and vanadium carbides. This is what gives this shade its exceptional resistance to wear.

What heat treatment for Vanadis 8?

The Uddeholm Vanadis series is processed using simple procedures. In the case of non-stainless shades, a high temperature regress can even be achieved. In this case, cryo is not required to obtain the maximum hardness permitted by Vanadis 8.
