Basketweave: the art of basketry... In a damascus billet.

The Basketweave pattern is a unique combination of precision, symmetry and fluidity, woven together like steel transformed into fabric. This pattern does not stand still: it moves, transforms under the effect of light, plays with depth and draws the eye to its complex, interwoven structure. Each square contains its own undulation, its own story, coming together to create a piece of metal that seems as alive as the hands that forged it. A tight, strong fabric that will give your knife blades a unique aesthetic.

A marriage of technique and aesthetics.

For the stainless steel version of the Damascus Basketweave, Vegas Forge has chosen to work with and combine two grades of stainless steel: AEB-L (96% of the billet) and 302 steel (maximum 4% of the billet). Knifemakers are very familiar with AEB-L steel, a stainless grade appreciated in knifemaking for its resistance to corrosion, its high hardness levels and the quality and durability of its cutting edge. 302 steel is a steel that reaches low hardness levels after hardening, due to its low carbon content (between 0.05 and 0.15%). When used in a Damascus kit, it guarantees the ductility, durability and strength of the knife blade. Its very high nickel content (between 6 and 9.5%) also allows for extremely sharp contrasts after acid development. In short, the ideal combination of beauty and power!

It is delivered annealed, ready for stock removal. The template we offer is suitable for most knife blades, both fixed and folding: but always for top-of-the-range knives!
